Seniors’ Tour | Women of the AGA

Please join us at the YWCA for a special presentation and tour of Women of the AGA: Celebrating 100 Years of Achievement. This exhibition features a selection of women represented in our collection whose legacy as artists and mentors has and continues to have a pivotal influence on younger generations. Highlights include artwork by Marion Nicoll, Mary Shannon Will, Lyndal Osborne and Jane Ash Poitras among others. 

This tour is for self-identified seniors and is free to attend. Capacity for the event is 30 so reserve your tickets early. 

This tour is off-site at the YWCA. The address is 10402-124 Street.

Seniors’ Tours are offered monthly and organized by the AGA’s Aging Artfully Advisory Committee. 

About the Exhibition:

In honour of the Art Gallery of Alberta’s 100th anniversary, this YWCA showcase celebrates Alberta women artists represented in the AGA’s Collection. The exhibition includes trail-blazing artists who have been at the forefront of stylistic and material investigations—such as Marion Nicoll, one of the province’s first abstract painters, and Mary Shannon Will, whose paintings build upon computer-manipulated images—and others who have used their art to address environmental and colonial injustices, including Lyndal Osborne and Jane Ash Poitras. Several of these women have also been a pivotal influence on younger generations through both mentorship and post-secondary appointments.
